Lauren and Jordan: The Fairytale Comes True

Lauren and Jordan

If there is one word to sum up the feel for Lauren and Jordan’s March 13, 2011 wedding, it would be fairytale. The fabulous Four Seasons location set the tone for this beautiful event, and the flowers made it magical. From the very beginning of the planning process, everyone agreed that the mood called for an abundance of fragrant flowers in soft, romantic colors. Mother of the bride, Cheryl, an interior decorator by trade, wanted Lauren’s romantic vision to carry a singularly unique design. Always up for the challenge, Signature Events and partner, The Flower Studio, rolled up their sleeves and got to work.

The first challenge was the ceremony site. Lauren wanted flowers to cover the aisle and  Cheryl wanted an unexpected  approach that would wow their guests.  Combining the best of both worlds, Signature Events founder Charlee Geisler, suggested defining the aisle with romantic petal designs rather than outlining the sides or filling the entire space. Combined with the unique floral arrangements framing the back of the aisle, this created visual interest and allowed the organic beauty of the location to shine through.

The second challenge was  to create the abundant,  fairytale centerpieces Lauren desired without utilizing a traditional or predictable design. It took two two attempts, but Flower Studio founder Christine Siegel struck exactly the right cord when she combined golden branch structures with  flower clusters, crystals, and candlelight. Signature Events followed the unique floral theme by dressing alternating chair backs  with ribbon rosette  slip covers  and complementing them with white ribbon table overlays.

The third challenge was ensuring that the attention to detail and finishing touches carried forth in all aspects of the event. During cocktail hour, custom table linens were whimsically arranged to reflect the soft romance of the room. Later in the evening, Lauren and Jordan added fun to whimsy by inviting guests to enjoy martinis from a personalized ice luge.

Lauren and Jordan, we are so honored to have helped make your fairytale wedding come true. We wish you the very best in your life together.

Jennifer & Eric: Glamorous Retro-Chic Reception

All of the Retro-Chic Details Combined to Make this Reception Flawless

As all of you who follow us know, we create some amazing weddings. From start to finish, these weddings combine the elegance, quality, uniqueness, and pizazz that make them ”Signature Events.” From the very beginning Jennifer knew the vision she wanted to create. She showed us photos, websites, clippings, and articles presenting unique colors, aspects or twists on the traditional. Nowhere is this attention to detail more apparent then in her Retro-Chic Reception. Combining modern elegance,1960′s glamor, and a hint of retro spunk made this November 6, 2010 reception one to remember.

As you can see, the reception was a symphony of color and texture. Solid black table cloths were topped with black and white geometric table runners to add depth and interest to the linens. Yellow napkins, chair pads, and votives  added a pop of color to the monochromatic scheme, and mirrored the effect of the interspersed flowers wrapped on the mesquite branch centerpieces. Twinkle drape behind the band added an elegant glow and ambiance to the room.

Whatever the guests’ needs, we had  them covered. If they needed a break from the dancing or activity at their table, guests were invited to enjoy the lounge area of the ballroom resplendent with white leather couches, custom throw pillows, and decorative yellow flower balls. If they needed a little energy, black, white, and yellow candies were on display and available for a quick recharge.

Guests completed the night with a piece of  a confectioner’s dream cake, and danced until the wee hours of the morning. Perfection! Jennifer & Eric, we wish you warmth, happiness, love, and a life as beautiful and magical as the wedding that initiated it.

Jennifer & Eric: Classy and Creative Ceremony Ideas

Flowers by Angelic Grove

Have you been leafing through magazines, scouring websites, and ripping out pictures, but every ceremony site you see seems a bit too girly and  flowery? Are you a modern woman with a hint of retro spunk, but can’t find an inspiration that reflects your vibe? Look no further. Jennifer and Eric struck exactly the right cord between 1960′s glamour and modern sophistication, with just the right amount of tradition and flowers thrown in, for their November 6, 2010 ceremony.

Jennifer and Eric Share Their First Look

Right from the start, Jennifer knew she wanted to incorporate more than just flowers into her ceremony site. Working closely with Scottsdale wedding planner Charlee Geisler, they decided on the perfect blend of traditional elements with a modern twist. Large, yellow pillar candles set atop mirrored pedestals add color and dimension to the aisle. Strings of flowers, scattered petals, and hanging votives add a whimsical touch to the traditional Jewish canopy, called the Chuppah, which symbolizes the home the bride and groom will build together.

The Details Kept the Traditional Elements of this Ceremony Fresh and Modern

To complete the setting, two gorgeous contemporary arrangements framed the back of the aisle. Mounted upon the same mirrored columns as the candles,  harvested mesquite branches formed the structure upon which various roses, orchids, and calla lilies were spaced and intertwined with hanging votives. The pop of yellow color provided continuity and pizazz while the combination of flowers added variety and depth.

Everything about you wedding reflects details that are uniquely you: fabulous florals, sensational centerpieces, exceptional eats, and now sensational sign in boards. If you are tired of the same old guestbook ideas, take a cue from our modern-retro bride and groom. Jennifer and Eric struck exactly the right cord between 1960′s glamour and modern sophistication. With their unique approach to guest book sign in, friends and family were truly able to ”make their mark” and “leaf a piece of themselves” for this happy couple to remember forever.

Jennifer and Eric Asked Guests to "Leaf Their Fingerprints on Their Wedding Tree"

First, Jennifer gave her own twist to the traditional symbol of the gnarled oak by having an artist sketch the  tree, complete with bride and groom figures, to be displayed on an easel at the ceremony site.  Next, she and Eric chose their favorite color ink and went to work.

Wording Wisdom

Often times when brides choose the wording for their invitations they assume that certain phrases are interchangeable or synonymous. Unfortunately, many times they are NOT! For instance, would you think there is a difference between “Request the honour of your presence…” and “Request the pleasure of your company…?”  Or would you think these phrases are basically synonymous? As Scottsdale wedding planners with over 20 years experience, we can tell you there is significant difference between these two phrases.

In the first phrase, the word “honour” denotes that the ceremony takes place in a house of worship. This is the ONLY time the word “honour” should be used! If you are planning to hold your ceremony at a residence, resort, golf club, etc., you should always use the phrase “request the pleasure of your company.”

Did you answer correctly? If so, well done! If not, don’t worry. Part of your wedding planner’s job is to make sure that everything is perfect- including your invitation etiquette. If you do not have a wedding planner, then be sure to ask your stationer for advice. Don’t have a stationer? You are in luck! We have two excellent recommendations for you.

Trends: Club Theme for Bar and Bat Mitzvahs

IMG_7936_reduced

Over the last year the club theme has been very popular for both Bar at Bat Mitzvahs. There are three key  components to consider when creating the perfect “Club.”

1. Incorporate all aspects of the room. This means adding design elements throughout the space to create a cohesive whole.  For this Bar Mitzvah, we continued the club design to include both the cake tower and the bar. This filled the space across from the dance floor and in the corners of the room making it one cohesive space rather than a series of stations.

2. Utilize light as décor. The intelligent lighting in this bar moves with the music, adding a fun dynamic. Combining this with a retro inspired pillow wall created light and movement in an area that could otherwise have been dark and predictable. We also designed the table bases so that they were lit from within and featured unique lighting as the focus of the centerpieces. The combination of these two elements, offset by the chic bar, enhanced and perpetuated the cool vibe throughout the room.

3. Choose two or three feature colors. In this case, white and royal blue were our feature colors. We chose to incorporate them by using white for the seating and lounge accents, and royal blue for the lighting. The royal blue lighting played perfectly off the white furniture and provided a chic, modern vibe. This enhanced and reinforced the cool club feel of this trendy Bar Mitzvah party.

Starry Night: An Elegant Arizona Wedding

Rebecca and Zack amid the orange trees in Mesa

Rebecca and Zack amid the orange trees in Mesa

Rebecca and Zack knew they wanted their romantic reception to be held beneath the stars in the orange groves of Mesa , Arizona. They also knew they would need some extra help bringing their vision to life, so they contacted Arizona wedding coordinator and Signature Events owner, Charlee Geisler .

“The natural beauty of the orange groves provided the perfect setting for us to make Rebecca and Zack’s dreams a reality. When we started,” Charlee continues, “the reception site was a gravel lot in the middle of rows of orange trees. There were no lights, no power, and no restrooms, but we made it into something magical.”

Scottsdale Wedding Planner Charlee Geisler made Rebecca and Zack's dreams come true

The theme was “Starry Night,”  and Charlee wanted to incorporate the stars as much as possible. However, since it was also April in Arizona, she wanted guests to be comfortable, which meant brining in air conditioning. “We decided to go with a clear tent so that guests would feel like they really were under the stars. The design elements we incorporated included soft white draping for the walls, twinkle lighting overhead, and hanging illuminated multipoint stars from the top of the tent to enhance the romantic effect.”

Throughout the night, guests were able to enjoy the beauty of the Arizona spring, while dining and dancing in cool comfort. The romantic tone set by the twinkle lights and  draping was further heightened by the elegant blue and white centerpieces, sparkling crystal, and navy blue linens.

To complete the evening, the bride and groom cut the cake and shared a kiss as perfectly timed fireworks erupted over the grove, completing the perfect, romantic starry night.
